Curtis Abu

Curtis Abu was born & raised in NYC and started his martial arts training at 8 years old. He spent most of his years learning the way of budō from different teachers both in the US and Japan. Currently he runs his own training group ‘Chikushin’ while continuing to learn & polish his skills.

He began studying the Japanese language at the age of 12. Learning social and historical topics and took up Japanese-to-English translation, working mainly as a freelance; he continues to use his translation experience for work and non-profit assignments.

Curtis runs Light in the Clouds in his free time, a blog about Japanese historical, cultural articles, martial arts-related topics, and discussions. Promoting a better understanding of Japan, its martial tradition, and history.”
