In early November 2024, just after the 63rd All Japan Women's KENDO Championship had finished, news of the 70th Anniversary of the Yamanashi Kendo Federation All Japan Women's KENDO 7-DAN Tournament was announced via social media and other channels by the All Japan Kendo Federation (AJKF) and other participants.

On 5 November, the All Japan Kendo Federation presented the Kendo Meritorious Service Award to 69 individuals, including Kobayashi Setsuko sensei, from various prefectures.

On Thursday, 28 August, Kumi Sato sensei of the Sweden Kendo Federation was awarded the Minister for Foreign Affairs Commendation for the 2025, by the Minister for Foreign Affairs. The award was given for her outstanding contribution to enhancing friendly relations between Japan and other nations through kendo. The Embassy of Japan in Sweden on the 30th October reporting the award ceremony in the following post.

We have learned that an article about Futatsuki Mutsumi sensei, who was appointed President of the Nagano Kendo Federation in June last year, was published on 24th March, in Kendo Jidai International.

Today, on 24th May, we received the news that Fujisaki Kaneko sensei, who achieved victory at the All Japan University Women's Kendo Tournament and has been active as a competitor, coach, and referee in Ibaraki Prefecture since graduating, has been appointed as Vice President of the Ibaraki Kendo Federation.

The number of women taking higher dan grade examinations is increasing yearly.

Having started kendo in 1967 when she was 35, Solveig Malmkvist is one of the few women who started kendo as early as the 1960s in Europe.

The first woman to pass the first section of the 8th dan examination has been named and the AJKF Women’s Committee interviewed her.
